Poro-Panuma Reindeer Farm

Poro-Panuma Reindeer Farm is a family-run reindeer farm with a history of hundreds of years of reindeer herding. We are located in the village of Panuma in Pudasjärvi, less than one hour’s drive from Oulu. We provide tourism services at our wilderness farm throughout the year. You are welcome to have a great time surrounded by nature!

Our reindeer are semi-wild animals. They spend most of the year in the wilderness and return to the farm for the winter. During the snow-free season, only a few reindeer live on the farm, but in winter you can meet the whole herd.

Please note that all visits to Poro-Panuma Reindeer Farm require an advance reservation. The farm is open by request only.  Here you find the details of the Farm visit in Poro-Panuma.

The Panuma village, which is located in the middle of wilderness, is one of the oldest villages of reindeer husbandry in the southern reindeer management area. No less than seven generations have already been practising reindeer husbandry at Poro-Panuma.

Panuma is surrounded by wide wildernesses. Protected peatland areas of Hirvisuo and Hattu-Kuusisuo as well as the lake Panumajärvi and the Panumaoja creek which streams from it to the  Iijokiriver, provide experiences all year round. The longest natural state passage of the Iijoki river, the Kipinänkoski rapids, is also located close to Panuma.  Iso-Syöte, which is the southernmost fjeld area in Finland, is also only at an hour's car drive from Panuma.
